HANAC Child & Family Counseling Program

The HANAC Child and Family Counseling Program offers counseling services to children and families to strengthen the family unit, to maintain a safe and stable home environment, to prevent out of home placement for the children into the foster care system, and to reunite those who have been placed in foster care.
Services are designed to strengthen the family unit by developing and implementing effective problem solving skills and coping strategies through crisis intervention, parent aid counseling, individual and family counseling, anger management and domestic violence counseling, play therapy, and behavior modification techniques. The program also provides outreach services and advocacy services and works closely with the families dealing with school related issues.

Greek and Spanish bilingual clinicians who are knowledgeable and sensitive to the cultural and ethnic values and beliefs of the community staff the program. The program also provides outreach and advocacy for the client families to access additional supportive community resources. Services are available Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM and evening hours until 9 PM to accommodate the needs of the families.

Funded by the New York City Administration for Children’s Services, this program provides assistance to 60 families annually.
