HANAC Crime Victim Services Program
HANAC Crime Victim Services was established to help victims of crime deal with the aftermath of a crime committed against them.
Besides offering emotional support at a time when it is urgently needed, this program provides information about police and court procedures and provides personal advocacy on behalf of victims, including providing assistance in obtaining a Court Order of Protection. It also provides information and assistance for filing compensation claims to pay for medical expenses, loss of earnings and the loss of essential personal property.
To familiarize the community with various governmental and organizational services available to crime victims, programs staff conduct presentations for community organizations and at community events.
Program services are available Monday through Thursday form 9:00am to 7:00pm, and on Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Nearly 1,000 crime victims are assisted each year through this program, which is funded by the New York State Crime Victims Bureau.
